A candidate forum for the Smithfield Town Council election is scheduled for Thursday, April 5, 7 p.m. at The Smithfield Center. Judy Begland of Wharf Hill Antiques will be the moderator and the forum is sponsored by The Smithfield Times. In all, there are six candidates running for four seats, including incumbent Mayor Carter Williams, and challengers Valerie Butler, Bill Davidson, Wayne Hall, Beth Haywood and Chris Torre. The election is May 1.
