Daniel Lee Wells Sr., 79, passed away on April 28, 2018.  Dan was the son of the late Nollie Lee and Louise Joyner Wells. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Smithfield Foods after 47 years to the day.  

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Audrey Virginia Owens Wells; sons Daniel Lee Wells Jr. (Celeste) and David Allen Wells (Tilly); grandchildren, Dustin, Christin, Hannah, Henry, Hesley and Halaina; great-grandson, Jacob; sisters, Ellen Seymour (Don) and Alice Joyner (Sonny); and brother-in-law, James W. Jones.  

Dan was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde Monroe Wells and Benjamin Wells, and a sister, Pearl Jones.  

A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 5, 2 p.m. in Smithfield Baptist Church, and burial will be private in Mill Swamp Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the memorial service in the Family Life Center at Smithfield Baptist.
