Patriotic tunes, variations on a Korean folk song, some R&B and more are a cure for “Spring Fever,” to be performed Friday, May 18 by the Smithfield High School band. 

Hits include “It Don’t Mean a Thing if it Ain’t Got That Swing,” by Duke Ellington Matt Harris, and “Star Wars, The Force Awakens — Part 1,” by John Williams. 

The free community concert is 7-8 p.m. in the Smithfield High School auditorium and is sponsored by the Isle of Wight County Arts League. 

The spring band tour officially opens the Summer Concert Series, which will continue on the Gazebo Stage at The Smithfield Times Friday, May 25. Popular jazz band Forte will open the Gazebo series at 8 p.m.

On June 1, a community gospel concert is planned.
