Evelyn Bateman Ransdell, “Aunt Evie,” 79, of Smithfield, passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018.  She is the daughter of the late Robert Harrison Bateman and Leo Mae Gayle Bateman.  Evelyn was a lifelong resident of Smithfield.  She was a past member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Senior German Club.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Lawrence “Larry” L. Ransdell.  She is survived by a sister, Delilah B. Horsfield; one nephew, Robert Kevin Horsfield; two nieces, Valerie Horsfield Irwin and Deborah R. Carros; and an adopted niece, Ashley Nicole Turner. 

A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 11 a.m. in St. Luke’s Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday May 20 from 2-3 p.m. at Little’s Funeral Home, Smithfield.  Online condolences may be registered at www.littlesfuneralhome.com.
