Chaplain L.W. Allen of Smithfield, and a Richmond native, passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord Jesus on May 20, 2018. His career spanned 40 years holding pastorates throughout Virginia and as a chaplain with the Virginia National Guard. Born in 1930, he was a graduate of Fork Union Military Academy and the University of Richmond. He and the former wife, Patricia Anne Bransford of Fork Union, celebrated 66 years of marriage this March. He leaves a legacy of four children, 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
