Prepare for Boarders! The pirates are back.

This Friday’s concert on the Gazebo Stage at 228 Main Street will be “Pirate Night,” a program that has delighted young children for years.

The Clan MacCool Pirate Show will be returning with its antics and “child-friendly” sea shanties. There will be sword fights and other interaction between the band and kids.

The Pirate Night concert will begin at 7 p.m., an hour earlier than usual, in order to allow the youngest of buccaneers to come and enjoy it before bedtime.

Next week’s concert will feature regional blues singer Bobby Blackhat, taking the stage at 8 p.m. Prior to that, members of the Smithfield High School Band will be performing at locations along Main Street.

The Summer Concert Series is sponsored by The Smithfield Times and the Isle of Wight Arts League.
