Steven Wayne Bowler

Steven Wayne Bowler, 65, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 26, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on Jan. 11, 1953 in Hampton, to Marion and Betty Bowler.  He was a resident of Smithfield, where he served his community as a former president of the Smithfield Kiwanis Club and a State Farm agent more than 30 years.  

He was a graduate of Hampton High School, attended the University of Virginia, and graduated from Southern Mississippi.  Steve was an avid golfer, loved fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. 

He is survived by his mother, Betty Bowler; his wife, Darnell Bowler of 35 years, four children, Ashley Matthews (Drew), Sarah Edwards (Andy), Kim McCandless and Tim Minor (Jess).  Steve had 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson. He is also survived by his brother, Mike Bowler (Kris); sister, Susan Davidson (John) and many loving nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, Marion C. Bowler.

A funeral will be held on Sunday July 29, 2 p.m. at Little’s Funeral Home, Smithfield with burial to follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery.  A visitation will be held Saturday, July 28, from 5-6 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105 or www.stjude.org.  Online condolences may be registered at www.littlesfuneralhome.com.
