Kay Chapman Hall Hagerman

HOLDEN BEACH NC — Kay Chapman Hall Hagerman passed away peacefully at her home in Holden Beach, N.C. on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018. She was the daughter of the late John and Ollie Belle Chapman. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Wilson Chapman sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Ben Neese; niece, Lisa Neese; husband, Tom Hagerman; and son, John Hall. Kay was born and raised in Smithfield, where she spent most of her life. 

She worked at the telephone company, the Isle of Wight County Courthouse, and ran The Country Store. She was also manager of Ramada Inn and Williamsburg Motor Court. She was a past member of the Denbigh Warwick Exchange Club, Republican Women’s Club, and the Smithfield Volunteer Fire Departments Women’s Auxiliary. After retiring due to illness, Kay moved to North Carolina to be close to her son John. She moved to Holden Beach where she fell in love with her new home and remained until her death. She is survived by a niece and nephews, two step-daughters, grandson Michael Hall, and many others who will cherish her memory, including friend, neighbor and caretaker Ginny Nelson.
