Chisman Creek will bring a unique variety of music to the Gazebo Stage Friday.

The band, which has gained accolades throughout Hampton Roads, blends traditional and contemporary bluegrass, classic rock, modern hits and some original music in a performance that’s hard to nail down as a particular genre.

Chisman Creek was recommended by Summer Concert Series patron Eugene Carter, who is underwriting the group’s visit to Smithfield. Friday’s concert begins at 8 p.m.

The series, sponsored by The Smithfield Times and Isle of Wight Arts League, is in the final stretch for this season. It will conclude Friday, Aug. 31 with a performance by Clay and Nancy Griffin.
