Isle of Wight residents are invited to view two scenarios for future land use in the county as part of the update to the comprehensive plan, “Envisioning the Isle.”

The third round of public forums is being held throughout Isle of Wight and at two times to be more convenient for residents.

So far this year, Isle of Wight County planning staff has held 10 public meetings and received input from more than 400 residents, according to Malina Springer, principal planner for Isle of Wight County.

The input has allowed staff to put together two different scenarios for future development in Isle of Wight, said Springer.

The upcoming public forums will include two large printouts of the scenarios as well as each of the locations where multiple paths forward are proposed, said Springer.

Revising the county’s comprehensive plan is done every 10 years, according to state law. The final draft of the plan is scheduled for public hearings in July and August 2019.

The sessions will be held Sept. 11 at First Gravel Hill Baptist Church, 5230 Old Stage Highway; Sept. 13 at the Windsor Ruritan Club, 14 Community Drive; Sept. 18, Carrville Ruritan Club, 5336 Carrsville Hwy.; Sept. 27, The Smithfield Center, 220 N. Church St.; and Oct. 3, Nike Park Recreational Center, 13036 Nike Park Road. All sessions are from 3:30-5 p.m. and 6:30-8 p.m. For more information visit http://www.co.isle-of-wight.va.us/plan/public-forum-3/.
