Andrew James Gray

Andrew James Gray, 37, of Smithfield, passed away Oct. 28, 2018 with his family by his side. He was born in Newport News on May 15, 1981. Andrew was a five-year survivor of leukemia. He fought courageously for a number of years to overcome the complications and challenges of his illnesses. He graduated from Smithfield High School in 1999 and graduated from East Carolina University with a BS in industrial technology.

Andrew surrounded himself with the latest technologies, was an avid gamer and computer guru. He was an animal lover and is greatly missed by his boxer, Roxie. Andrew was happiest when his dog was at his side and when he gave gaming tips to his young nephews.

Andrew was preceded in death by his brother, Mark T. Gray and his grandparents James D. and Hilda S. Deaux Jr. and Alton E. and Addie C. Gray. He is survived by his parents, Ronald E. and Danielle S. Gray; his brother, Jason E. Gray and wife Rebecca; nephews, Hatteras, Jaxton and Camden; his aunts, Linda G. (Jerry) Creekmore and Nancy E. Brown; uncles, George M. Gray (Vickie), James D. Deaux III (Ruth) and Thomas N. Deaux (MaryGail) and numerous cousins.

Services and burial will be private. Interment will be at Saint Luke’s Memorial Park Cemetery. The family is being assisted by R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory.
