Toy drives underway

Two local organizations are collecting toys this Christmas.
The Smithfield Kiwanis is hosting its annual Children’s Fund to provide toys for needy youth in Isle of Wight County. Last year, donations allowed the Kiwanis to assist 150 local families with Christmas gifts. To make a donation, send a check, payable to Smithfield Kiwanis Foundation to the Kiwanis Club of Smithfield, PO Box 143, Smithfield, VA 23431. Toys for Tots is collecting toys for needy Isle of Wight County children through Dec. 22. Drop-off locations include the Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department, Troy Marine, Farmers Bank, Travis Auto, 319 Main St. in Smithfield, Oaks Veterinary Clinic, Dollar General Stores, Enterprise Rent a Car, Smithfield Fire Department, Ray’s Import, Cofer Auto, BB & T, Sona, Edward Jones Carrollton, Victoria’s Rose and the Windsor Police Department. To volunteer, donate online or request toys, visit Smithfield-Va.toysfortots.org. Those wanting to receive toys must apply online at ToysforTots.org.
