On Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, Josephine Campbell Garrett, wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 in Smithfield.

Born and raised in Charlottesville, Josephine received a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Virginia in 1952. She took pride in her nursing degree and was fondly known as “Nurse Jo” to the Riverside Willow Creek nursing staff. Jo continued her education at the Baptist College of Florida, from which she received her bachelor’s degree in Music in 1966. She proudly served as an organist, pianist, and choir director for the many Baptist ministries her husband pastored for in Virginia, Georgia and Florida. Everyone who knew Jo was familiar with her passion for music and devotion to her Christian faith.

Josephine has eternally joined her husband, James Maxwell Garrett Jr., daughter, Duane Frances Garrett, son, James Wesley Garrett and sister, Jean Tyler Elliott.
