Smithfield’s popular jazz band Forte will perform Friday at 8 p.m. on the Smithfield Times Gazebo Stage.

Forte is an eight-piece ensemble formed in 1995. The group has performed extensively for events ranging from the Friday evening series in Smithfield to the Hampton Jazz Festival.

Forte’s specialty is creating quality musical programs that invite listeners to share the group’s love of music with innovative and energetic performances. The group has produced several albums, the most recent being “Chase the Rhythm.”

The Summer Concert Series is sponsored by The Smithfield Times and the Isle of Wight Arts League. Concerts are free to the public and held weekly from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
