A concert just for kids

Published 6:20 pm Tuesday, June 11, 2019

Chris Campbell of Richmond will bring his puppets and his music to Smithfield Friday for a special Children’s Night concert on the Smithfield Times Gazebo Stage, located at 228 Main Street.

The performance is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in deference to young children’s bedtimes.

Campbell brings a multitude of talents to his shows, which are tailored for kids age 2 through 9 and their parents. He is a singer, songwriter, musician, ventriloquist and — quite importantly — a parent.

Campbell performs at libraries, elementary and preschools, child development centers, churches and various private and community events. His original music is an acoustic blend of folk and pop. His father provides percussion and vocal backup.

Friday’s concert is part of the Summer Concert Series, sponsored each Friday evening by The Smithfield Times and the Isle of Wight Arts League.

Concert cancellations due to rain are made as late as possible on Friday. A sign is posted at the site and, when possible, rainouts are posted on www.facebook.com/smithfield.times and www.smithfieldarts.org.
