Notice is hereby given that the Isle of Wight County Board of Supervisors will hold a Public Hearing on Thursday, August 8, 2019 to consider the following applications:

The application of Richard Meiser, applicant, and G. Cecil Cornett, Sr., owner, for a change in zoning classification from Rural Agricultural Conservation (RAC) to Village Center (VC) of approximately 1.25 acres of land located at 10438 Oak Spring Road on the property with tax map number 23A-01-104. The purpose of the application is to allow a single-family home to be constructed on the property.

An ordinance to amend the following section of Appendix A, Subdivisions: Article 3, “Administration and Procedures.” The purpose of the proposed amendments is to reduce and clarify requirements, make editorial corrections, increase flexibility, and ensure compliance with the Code of Virginia.

Copies of said applications are on file in the Department of Planning and Zoning at the Isle of Wight County Courthouse Complex, Isle of Wight, Virginia, and are available for public examination.

Any person desiring to be heard in favor of, in opposition to, or to express his or her views with respect to said applications may appear before and be heard by said Board of Supervisors during the Public Hearing to be held in the Robert C. Claud, Sr. Board Room at the Isle of Wight County Courthouse Complex on Thursday, August 8, 2019. The public meeting is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.

The County of Isle of Wight is in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. NOTICE OF TAKING PROOF OF DEBTS AND DEMANDS

At the request of the personal representatives of the Estate of Joan Westbury Barnette, deceased, and in accordance with Title 64.2-550 of the Code of Virginia, I, William H. Riddick, III, Commissioner of Accounts of the Circuit Court of the County of Isle of Wight, Virginia, have fixed Monday, September 9, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., as the date and time, and 353 Main Street, Smithfield, Virginia, as the place for receiving proof of debts and demands against the said decedent or her estate. All creditors are hereby notified to produce their claims before me at such time and place, and the proceedings before me will be regularly continued until my report is complete. Notice is hereby given that the Board of Supervisors, at its meeting on Thursday, August 8, 2019, will hold a public hearing to consider the divestment and transfer of public property located in Newport Magisterial District, Isle of Wight County, Virginia, designated as “Benns Grant Blvd, Length: 0:23 miles” on that certain plat entitled “Benns Church Intersection Improvement Project (UPC 98244) Project Sketch” said property being a portion of Tax Map Parcels 32-01-072, 32-01-073, 32-01-083, 32-01-084, 32-01-100, 33-01-014, 33-01-014F and 32-01-099, to the Commonwealth of Virginia, acting by and through its Department of Transportation.

A copy of the proposed deed is on file in the Office of the County Attorney and the Office of the County Administrator, Isle of Wight Courthouse, Isle of Wight County, Virginia, and is available for public inspection. Any person desiring to be heard in favor of, in opposition to, or to express his views with respect to, the proposed transfer may appear before, and be heard by, the Board during the Public Hearing section of the meeting in the Robert C. PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF SMITHFIELD
AMENDMENT AND REVISION OF ZONING ORDINANCE
Notice is hereby given pursuant to Sections 15.2-2204 and 15.2-2285 of the Code of Virginia, (1950), as amended, that the Planning Commission of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia will hold a public hearing at the regular meeting of the Planning Commission on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 6:30 o’clock P.M., in The Smithfield Center, 220 N. Church Street, meeting room A, Smithfield, Virginia, to consider the amendment and revision of Articles 2, 3A, 3B, 3C, 3D, 3E, 3G,3H, 3I, 3J, 3K, 8, 10, 11, and 13of the Town’s Zoning Ordinance to define “event facilities”, to provide for event facilities as a permitted or conditional use within certain zoning districts within the Town and to enact provisions establishing general standards and standards for parking, loading and signage for event facilities.
Copies of the current Zoning Ordinance for Smithfield, Virginia, adopted September 1, 1998, and all amendments thereto, along with copies of the proposed revisions and amendments of the Zoning Ordinance for Smithfield, Virginia are on file and may be examined in the office of the Department of Planning, Engineering, & Public Works, 302 Main Street, Smithfield, Virginia 23430.
