Biden takes Virginia, IW and Surry

Former Vice President Joe Biden was the overwhelming winner in Isle of Wight County in today’s Democratic presidential primary, followed distantly by Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, according to unofficial results posted by the Isle of Wight Registrar’s Office. 

Biden received 3,481 votes in Isle of Wight — 65 percent, compared to 917 for Sanders. 

Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg came in third with 471 votes, and Sen. Elizabeth Warren came in fourth with 287.

Overall, the primary attracted 19 percent of Isle of Wight County’s voters, or 5,340 out of a total of 28,707, according to unofficial results. 

Biden also took Surry County with 977 votes, or nearly 72 percent, followed by Sanders with 207 votes, or 15 percent of the total tally. 

Biden easily took Virginia, earning 53 percent of the vote.

Super Tuesday’s primary included 14 states.
