This testing is targeted for residents of Franklin and Southampton County due to fewer testing sites available in those areas, Western Tidewater Health District Director Dr. Todd Wagner said. However, those from other areas will not be turned away if they arrive.

“We will test both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients in an effort to further understand prevalence in the community,” Wagner stated.

The testing will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents who wish to be tested are asked to bring a photo identification.

“The Western Tidewater Health District and the Virginia Department of Health are very excited to work alongside the local governments and community stakeholders to provide this testing opportunity,” Wagner said. “This testing opportunity further supports Governor Northam and his Testing Task Force’s goal and direction to match COVID-19 testing capacity with testing availability at the most local level.”

Testing will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the following sites:

Friday — Paul D. Camp Community College, 100 N. College Drive, Franklin

Saturday — S.P. Morton Elementary School, 300 Morton St., Franklin
