Area under Tropical Storm Warning

The area is now under a Tropical Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service Wakefield.
The warning means tropical storm conditions are expected within 24 hours. Risks include wind, storm surge, flooding rain and potential tornadoes, according to the warning.
The warning states that peak winds will be about 35 to 45 miles per hour with gusts to 60 mph. The window for tropical storm-force winds is early Tuesday morning to Tuesday afternoon.
Some damage to buildings and signs as well as uprooted trees and resulting power and communications outages are expected.
About one to three feet of storm surge is expected. Vulnerable areas such as low-lying roads, parking lot and property will likely become flooded.
Flooding from heavy rainfall is also expected and could flood low-lying areas and structures.
The situation is favorable for tornadoes, and impacts of any tornadoes that do develop will be significant.
