IW Cypress Creek polling place changed

Isle of Wight County’s Cypress Creek voting precinct has been relocated from Good Shepherd Catholic Church to the Smithfield Assembly Assembly of God Church at 1800 S. Church St., effective immediately.

In an announcement, the Isle of Wight registrar’s office said the change is necessary as the Catholic Diocese of Richmond has informed Good Shepherd that the church facilities may not be used for voting purposes due to  the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Notification of this change is being mailed to 2,824 Cypress Creek precinct voters, along with a new voter notification letter. Notice of this change will be “prominently posted at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Election Day,” as well as in local media and on the county’s webpage, the registrar’s office said.

The precinct name will remain Cypress Creek. This is where precinct voters will go for all countywide elections. Residents in this precinct will go to the Smithfield Center for town elections only.
