As of Monday morning, over 225,000 American citizens had died from the pandemic, which is 75 times more than the death toll from 9/11. The nation set a new record this past week with over 481,000 new COVID cases, and all expectations are that we are in for a long, dark winter with a doubling of the current death count.

On Sunday morning, Mark Meadows, the White House chief of staff, admitted to the nation that “we are not going to control the pandemic.” Yet last week, Columbia University estimated 130,000-210,000 U.S. deaths were avoidable.

Our president calls our nation’s doctors “idiots” and accuses them of faking the COVID death count. He holds rallies with thousands of attendees in pandemic hotspots, and currently at least five of the vice president’s staff have tested positive. Our leaders cannot even protect themselves, let alone their citizens, due to their blatant ignorance of science and putting politics over the health of the nation. It is shameful behavior and will forever be a stain on this nation.

Where are my fellow health professionals in calling out this tragedy?
