Editor, The Smithfield Times:

True story that happened to me: Rescue squad took me to the hospital in Suffolk, which released me at 10 p.m. I had no cellphone, no phone numbers, no way to call someone to pick me up. The discharge person said, “You can’t stay here.”

I walked from Obici to Burwells Bay, 12 hours. Suffolk police wouldn’t help me. Smithfield fire wouldn’t help me. Smithfield police wouldn’t help me. No one would help me.

At the intersection of the bypass and Main Street, I couldn’t walk anymore. God sent me an angel. It was the last Good Samaritan left on earth, and he helped me get home.

Just a thought that maybe let’s just try a little harder to help each other. You never know when you yourself might need help too.
