The Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in its investigation of the death of a Sedley man whose body was found in Carrsville last weekend.

According to Capt. Tommy Potter, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, deputies discovered the body Dec. 6 after being called to the 2000 block of Elmwood Drive at approximately 11 a.m. for a welfare check on a white male who’d been observed slumped over the steering wheel of a car at this location. On arrival, deputies discovered the deceased individual, who was later identified as 19-year-old Casey Dakota Cagle, whose last known address was the 30000 block of Oak Avenue, Sedley, in Southampton County.

Cagle’s body was transported to the office of the chief medical examiner in Norfolk for an autopsy, where results showed Cagle died from a single gunshot wound.
