A Smithfield woman died in a car crash on Dec. 23.

Chole Davis Holland, 35, of the 700 block of Wrenn Road, was the victim in the single-vehicle accident, according to Virginia State Police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya.

The crash was reported at 7:23 p.m., Anaya stated. The accident happened on Route 655, Great Springs Road, just west of Route 620.

Holland was driving a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme eastbound on Route 655 when she lost control of the vehicle, ran off the roadway and struck a tree, Anaya stated. She died at the scene.
