Ralph Lovell Henderson Jr., 78, of Suffolk, passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 14, 2021.

He was born Sept. 14, 1942, in Beckley, W.Va., to the late Bertha and Ralph Henderson Sr. He was also predeceased by sons, Bryan and David; sisters, Juanita Hooten and Shirley Carr.

He worked for Newport News Shipbuilding for 26 years and was owner of Henderson Building for 32 years building houses and installing septic tanks.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time with his family.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 54 years, Mary E. Henderson; granddaughters, Megan Henderson and Karollyn (Ian) Watson; sister, Pattie Mays; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at noon, Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021, at Calvary Baptist Church in Smithfield. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
