Hampton Roads Winery will host a community blood drive with the American Red Cross from 1 to 6 p.m. Feb. 16 at 6074 New Design Road, Surry.
For more information or to make an appointment to donate, call 757-899-0203, or sign up online at RedCrossBlood.org and use sponsor code HRW.
“Hosting a blood drive coincides with Hampton Roads Winery’s core values of giving back to the community,” said David Sheldon, co-owner. “Blood is in short supply right now, and with a simple blood donation, we have the ability to help save the life of someone who could be a coworker, loved one, or neighbor.”
Donors of all blood types are needed, especially those with O negative, B negative, and A negative. According to the Red Cross, type O negative is the universal blood type that can be safely transferred to anyone.
The Red Cross is testing all donors for COVID-19 antibodies, and anyone who donates in February will receive a $5 gift certificate by email from Amazon.
Hampton Roads Winery is a family-owned Virginia farm winery, located in Surry County, that celebrated its five-year anniversary in November. The winery is open 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day of the week except Tuesday.
