Charles Henry Webb died suddenly on April 12, 2021. He was born June 8, 1949, and grew up in Saltville. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1970, where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets. After fulfilling his military obligation, Charlie spent the next three decades in the restaurant industry. He and his wife, Susan, owned and operated C.W. Cowling’s in Smithfield for 20 years until his retirement in 2010. Charlie never met a stranger and loved his employees, customers and community.

He and Susan have lived in Woodbridge the past several years to be close to their daughter and her family. Charlie was a lifelong Hokie fan and loved to swim, read and build models out of popsicle sticks with his grandsons.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susan Driver Webb; his daughter, Katherine Greene (Matthew); grandsons, Camden, Mason and Cooper Greene; and his younger brother, Michael Webb (Vickie). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who will truly miss their Uncle Charlie.
