Surry County Farmers’ Market opens this week

The Surry County Farmers’ Market will open May 7.

Lasonya White, market manager, recently announced that the Market will offer the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

“SNAP provides families with their basic nutritional needs to get them through temporary hard times. We are pleased to incorporate this, as this will assist those in need during a pandemic,” said White.

A Surry County Farmers’ Market postcard was sent out to households within Surry County, offering a $10 off discount when $50 has been spent. A customer will use this punch card during the Farmers’ Market to receive the $10 off.

This year, the Market will have more vendors and events for citizens to access fresh fruits and vegetables and activities.

Below is the Farmers’ Market Event Schedule:

  • First Fridays — Musical Performance
  • Second Fridays — Arts and Crafts Night
  • Third Fridays — Food Truck Night
  • Fourth Fridays — Movie Night

The 2021 Farmers’ Market season is May through October. The Market will be located under the Farmers’ Market Pavilion at 45 School Street Surry, VA 23883, and it takes place from 4 to 6 p.m. every Friday.
