Anthony L. Eaton Sr.

Command Sgt. Maj. Anthony L. “Tony” Eaton Sr. passed away unexpectedly on June 13, 2021.

He served honorably for 28 years in the U.S. Army, earning numerous awards including the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star for Valor, the Purple Heart, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. After retirement from active duty, he was a JROTC instructor at Smithfield High School in Smithfield for 13 years.

CSM Eaton is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 53 years, Joyce L. Mintz Eaton; his daughter, Anthonette E. Postell; his son, Anthony L. Eaton Jr.; two granddaughters, Victoria Postell and Gabrielle Postell; mother-in-law, Mary B. Mintz; brother-in-law, Shelley F. Mintz (Chyrel); sister-in-law, LaMyra P. Jackson (Andrew); and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.
