Ann Gray Edwards

Ann Gray Edwards, 88, of Smithfield, passed away Friday, July 30, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mills and Irma Gray, when she was a young child, then she was raised by William and Minnie Gray. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Edwards Jr.; a sister; and two half-sisters.

Mrs. Edwards was a past deputy commissioner of revenue and general registrar of Isle of Wight County and was also the treasurer of the town of Smithfield. She was a past member of the Smithfield Ruritan Club and a devoted member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Stephanie E. Phillips, of Poquoson; grandchildren, Capt. Travis Worrell (Brittany), of Las Vegas, Nevada; Ashley Bentley (Kyle), of Leesburg; Ericka Phillips and Gunnar Phillips, both of Poquoson; two great-grandsons, Donald Bentley and Easton Worrell; along with her faithful companion, Rudolph.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021, in the Tucker Swamp Baptist Church with Pastor Curt Faison officiating. Burial will be private.
