SHS Charities Inc. recently announced the winners of its 2021 scholarships: Gabrielle Parker, Aleksa Greenhalgh, Nevaeh Sylvan and Taylor Cornett.

Parker is the 2021 Joseph Buggs Athletic Scholarship winner. She has a 4.032 cumulative grade point average and plans to major in English secondary education at Norfolk State University. She was a member of the band for four years, the SHS Ignite Club, the SHS Student Council and the Beta Club and National Honor Society.

Greenhalgh is one of the 2021 Shirley Barlow S.T.E.M. Scholarship Winners. She had a 4.492 cumulative grade point average and plans to major in chemical engineering at the Virginia Commonwealth University. She was a member of the SHS Art Club, the Political Club, the tennis team, Beta Club and National Honor Society.

Sylvan is the second winner of the 2021 Shirley Barlow S.T.E.M. Scholarship. She had a 4.31 cumulative grade point average and will major in mechanical engineering at Howard University. She was a member of the SHS Library Advisory Council, the SHS Art and Green Clubs, the SHS Academic Team and the Beta Club and National Honor Society.

Cornett is the 2021 Paris Carson Leadership Scholarship Winner. She had a 3.151 cumulative grade point average and plans to major in secondary education at Longwood University. She was a member of the SHS Leo Club, the SHS Interact Club and the SHS Green Club.
