According to IWCS spokeswoman Lynn Briggs, the Board plans to go into a closed session to conduct the interviews, then return to open session to appoint a representative.

Vicky Hulick, a former science teacher, held the Newport District seat from Jan. 1, 2016, to August of this year. She stepped down due to having relocated outside the district’s boundaries to Smithfield.

Her board-appointed replacement will serve until a special election is held. If elected at that time, Hulick’s replacement will serve through the remainder of her term, which does not expire until Dec. 31, 2023.
