Robert Lee “Dick” Edwards, 92, passed away peacefully at his lifelong home in Surry on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021.

He was married to the late Leffie Wells Edwards, who preceded him in death in 2018.

He is survived by five children: Carolyn E. Lassiter (Jimmy), John R. Edwards, Susan E. Cox (Greg), George L. Edwards (Vicky) and Muriel E. “Buffy” Davis (Jed). He is also survived by a sister, Nancy E. Phelps, of Surry. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Dick was a mechanic, stock car driver and most recently a farmer at Shady Oaks Farm and Beechland Farms until retirement in 2011.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Sept. 18, 2021, at the family home cemetery. All are welcome to attend.
