If you watch the news on a daily basis, it would be easy to believe that our country is horribly and irrevocably divided. In some pockets of the country, that may be true. But I am out and about in Isle of Wight County on a daily basis and I honestly don’t see it.

The unity in our community is never more evident than during the planning and implementation of Isle of Wight Christian Outreach Program’s annual fundraiser, Souper Saturday. With the participation and generosity of churches, businesses, clubs and individuals combined, it is clear that our community is truly a united front in fulfilling COP’s mission statement, “Helping the poor, needy and sick in Isle of Wight County.”

As Elizabeth Andrew once said, “Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.” Thank you, from my heart, to everyone involved.
