Motorcyclist dies after crash on Carrollton Boulevard

A Virginia Beach man died from injuries in a motorcycle crash Friday night on Carrollton Boulevard.
Charles Lynn Crews, 35, left the parking lot of Fatboys restaurant on a 2014 Harley Davidson and entered the path of a northbound 2018 Hino box truck, Virginia State Police said in a news release. The driver of the truck, William C. Winter, of Newport News, attempted to swerve to avoid Crews but was unsuccessful. The wreck occurred at 8:45 p.m.
Crews was wearing an unapproved Department of Transportation helmet, VSP spokeswoman Michelle Anaya said. He suffered major head injuries and was transported to Riverside Regional Hospital in Newport News, where he later died.
No charges will be filed, Anaya said.
