Gov. Ralph Northam has recently announced the following appointments of local people to statewide positions:

• Dr. Bridget Dalton Giles, of Smithfield, Director of Special Programs, Hampton Roads Biomedical Research Consortium, Research Assistant Professor, Virginia Modeling Analysis and Simulation Center, Old Dominion University, was appointed to the Virginia Data Advisory Commission.
• Clifton A. Slade, of Surry, owner of Slade Farms, was reappointed to the Board of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
• Judy S. Lyttle, member of the Board of Supervisors of Surry County, was appointed to the Cemetery Board.
• Ernest L. Blount* of Surry, a farmer, was appointed to the Virginia Peanut Board.
