Lt. Col. John Kenneth Harris, 70, of Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of Smithfield, passed away Dec. 5, 2021.

He was born on Nov. 23, 1951 in Tarrytown, New York, to Jane Sinnott and Kenneth J. Harris. John dedicated more than 25 years to his career in the United States Marine Corps. He then went on to work as a civilian employee with the Department of Defense. John was a lifetime veteran, who loved his country.

He is survived by his wife, Diana; children, Alexandra Presley, William Guinn and Nicole Benham; siblings, Ann Harris and Susan Leonard; granddaughter, Raegan Guinn; and grandsons, Rylan Buchanan and Alexandr Guinn. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Joan Velba and Mary Harris.

Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 15, 2021, at Kraft Sussman Funeral and Cremation Services, 3975 S. Durango Drive, #104, Las Vegas, NV 89147. Burial services will be at noon Jan. 12, 2022, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
