Smithfield resident earns award from WGU

Rachel Henk, of Smithfield, has earned an Award of Excellence at Western Governors University Teachers College. The award is given to students who perform at a superior level in their coursework.

 

Petty initiated to Omicron Delta Kappa

Reide Petty, a native of Smithfield, was recently initiated into the University of Richmond Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society. The Society welcomed more than 1,100 new initiates from 41 universities during November 2021. Students initiated into the Society must be sophomores, juniors, seniors or graduate/professional students in the top 35% of their class, demonstrate leadership experience in at least one of the five pillars, and embrace the ODK ideals. Fewer than 5% of students on a campus are invited to join each year.

 

Burnette named to Dean’s List

Brooke Burnette, of Carrollton, a senior graphic design major, was named to the Dean’s List for the Fall 2021 semester at York College of Pennsylvania.
