The Ed Bland Music Scholarship, set up to honor composer/filmmaker/record producer Ed Bland, announces that its award of $1,000 will be given to a graduating high school senior at the end of the 2022 school year.

High school seniors who play an instrument (acoustic or electronic) and who plan to pursue a professional career in music are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Eligible students must be enrolled in one of the Hampton Roads high schools. Home-schooled students who meet the requirements are also eligible to apply.

Applications require an audition CD of the applicant playing their instrument in one three-minute performance of an excerpt of a well-known musical composition and one three-minute performance of an improvised or original composition; two letters of recommendation; high school transcript; proof of residency; a brief biography; applicant’s artistic statement of career goals and plans; and an acceptance letter from a higher education program, conservatory or university.
