Charlie Ross

With profound sorrow I announce the passing of my best forever friend and “partner in fun,” Charlie Ross.

Charles Edward Ross was born Nov. 9 1934 and passed away peacefully Feb. 8, 2022 in Riverside Hospital; a victim of COVID, pneumonia and a stroke, as reported to me.

He was born in Beckley, WV to Robert Lee Ross and Mamie Hamilton Ross where he enjoyed a boyhood of Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer adventure by the New River Gorge. While playing in the New River and singing songs with his family on the front porch of his home perched on the side of the mountain, their songs wafted across the colossal valley below, echoing back at them through the beautiful West Virginia mountains.

Charlie, or “Little Eddie” as he was called then, was the youngest and “favorite” of Mamie’s and Robert’s fourteen children, who are waiting for him to come home. He was also preceded by his sweet West Virginia wife, Loretta, and his musically talented son Timothy.

He is survived by his daughter Susan and her husband Allen, his son Danny, grandchildren Kevin, Nicholas, Matthew, Anna and Kasey. He was looking forward to the high school graduation of his cherished great-granddaughter Autumn Bates.

Also left to the void of his happy sweet voice, his best friend and forever dance partner, Patricia Benton Wilson “Pat.”

God be with you til we meet again, sweet Charlie. We love you. Rest in Peace.

Services to be announced.
