The Isle of Wight Optimist Club has announced the winners of its 2022 Essay Contest.

The first-place winner is Faith Wells. Second place was Lia Corning. Isabel Johnson and Rachel Sawyer tied for third place.

All are Smithfield High School students.

Wells’ essay advances to the district competition, whose winner will receive a $2,500 college scholarship.
