The NRA Foundation has awarded a $21,800 grant to the Tidewater Council of Boy Scouts of America.
The grant provides shooting sports, archery and safety equipment for use at Pipsico Scout Reservation in Spring Grove and at Scout camps in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth and Virginia Beach.
“We are very excited to offer Scouts enhanced shooting sports opportunities,” said James Parnell, scout executive for Tidewater Council BSA, “and pleased that the NRA is making an investment in teaching gun safety to youth.”
The grant provides new safety gear, targets, ammunition, firearms and archery supplies. The Tidewater Council offers shooting sports and archery as part of its comprehensive character-building programs. In addition to education and safety training, Scouts enjoy hands-on shooting sports and archery experiences at summer resident camps, day camps and additional weekend events.
