Law Enforcement United passes through Smithfield

Smithfield’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8545 coordinated a flag line for riders in the Law Enforcement United Virginia Division’s bike ride from Chesapeake to Washington, D.C. The organization of officers and civilian supporters who’ve made it their mission to honor the fallen and advocate for survivors injured in the line of duty passed through Main Street and North Church Street Tuesday morning on bicycles, motorcycles and in patrol cars from police and sheriff’s departments across the country. Here, two women wave American flags as a Smithfield Police Department patrol car passes the former Laura & Lucy’s antique shop and Pearl’s Boutique.

Editor’s note: This story has been updated to reflect participants came from departments across the country, not just Virginia, and that the parade also passed through North Church Street.
