Junior Miss Isle of Wight County Fair 2021 Lana Janas and her dog, Duke, won first place in the pet fashion show for “formal wear.”

Isle of Wight County Parks and Recreation held its inaugural “Bark in the Park” fundraiser on June 4 to benefit Isle of Wight County’s, Franklin’s and Southampton County’s Animal Services departments, as well as the Isle of Wight County Humane Society. The event raised over $1,500 in cash donations and collected another $1,500 worth of supplies.
The event, held at Nike Park in Carrollton, featured a pet fashion show, face painting, therapy dog visits, on-site pet adoptions and animal-related vendors. There, Isle of Wight and Franklin Animal Services were able to adopt out 10 cats and dogs.
