Gov. Glenn Youngkin has named two Isle of Wight County residents to serve on state boards.
Col. William Smith, superintendent of the Western Tidewater Regional Jail, will serve as one of six new appointees to the Criminal Justice Services Board.
The 32-member board serves as the approving authority for Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services regulations and approves most of the grants the department awards to localities, state agencies and private nonprofit organizations.
Youngkin also named Donna Jones of Windsor, secretary and treasurer of Jones Farms Inc., to the state Peanut Board, an eight-member authority tasked with promoting the sale and use of peanuts and overseeing the state’s Peanut Fund.
