Severe thunderstorm, excessive heat advisories in effect through 8 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch through 8 p.m. for Isle of Wight and Surry counties.
As of just after 1:30 p.m., the NWS Wakefield station was forecasting a 30% chance of precipitation this afternoon and evening.
Isle of Wight and Surry were already under an excessive heat warning, which will also remain in effect through 8 p.m. Temperatures are expected to rise to a high of 94 degrees this afternoon with heat index values as high as 109.
