Donald Lee Griffin

Donald Lee Griffin passed away on August 9, 2022 at the age of 76. He passed peacefully in his home in Jupiter Farms, Florida surrounded by family.

Don was born June in 1946 in Seattle, Washington to Buford Dixon Griffin and Adele Pulliam Griffin. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Evelyn Stallworth Griffin, his son Trevor Griffin, daughter-in-law Rebeka Nickolaus Griffin, grandson Finnegan Griffin, sister Sharon Holleman (Billy), niece Sara Reynolds, brother-in-law Bill Stallworth, sisters-in-law Peggy Stallworth Emdee (Kevin) and Mary Stallworth Murdock (Dan)and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Don lived in Churchland, Virginia before moving to Smithfield, Virginia. He received an Associate’s Degree from Chowan College before joining the U.S. Navy in 1967. After the Navy he attended Old Dominion University in Virginia, graduating with a Masters Degree in Oceanography.

Don had a passion for the outdoors and loved hiking, camping and fishing with his wife and son. He turned his passion into a career as a professional sport fishing boat captain in Virginia Beach, Virginia and Palm Beach, Florida. He was very involved with the Boy Scouts of America for over 20 years. He trained both adult and youth leaders, helping over 20 youth reach the rank of Eagle Scout.

Don will be remembered for his gift of gab and his kind and passionate spirit.

A celebration of life will be held at the Jupiter Civic Center on September 16th 3-7pm.
