Letter – Region needs  Kiggans in D.C.

Editor, The Smithfield Times:

With early voting underway as of Sept. 23, it is imperative that Republicans take back Congress this year. The path to a Republican majority runs through Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District, which now includes Suffolk, Isle of Wight, Franklin City and parts of Southampton County.

This election provides us with a critical opportunity to elect a leader who will champion our values. I know that leader is my good friend state Sen. Jen Kiggans. For too long, our region has been left behind by our leaders in Congress, and it’s beyond time for a change in representation. Rural Virginia needs a leader who will value our priorities and champion our agricultural ventures at the federal level.

A former Navy helicopter pilot, Navy spouse and mom of four, geriatric nurse practitioner and state senator, Jen is just the kind of leader we need representing us in Congress!

Virginians in our region are struggling. From crippling inflation, to high gas and energy prices, to surging crime and a porous Southern border, our communities have been neglected by our congressional leaders. This November, we have a great opportunity to flip this seat and gift Western Tidewater with a congresswoman who will truly represent our community in Washington.

The failed policies that have been imposed on us by Democrats in Congress have hurt every American plain and simple. In Richmond, Jen and I have seen the horrific consequences of complete Democrat control at the state level, just as Americans are seeing in Washington today. Democratic one-party rule is making our nation almost unrecognizable.

Just as we did last November, Virginians need to make our voices heard loud and clear. We must send strong, commonsense leaders like Jen to Washington. On Nov. 8, please join me in supporting Jen Kiggans for Congress for the 2nd District.
