Smithfield’s National Night Out moves indoors

Smithfield’s National Night Out will be a night in this evening due to forecasted rain.
Tonight’s festivities are still a go but have moved to Main Street Baptist Church, the town announced on its Facebook page this morning. The event will now take place from 5 to 7 p.m.
National Night Out, a community-building campaign intended to promote positive interactions between residents and law enforcement, is traditionally held on the first Tuesday in August. Smithfield, however, began observing the date on the first Tuesday in October in 2021 when temperatures are cooler
