Letter – A successful  Souper Sat

Editor, The Smithfield Times:

After two years of not being able to allow folks to dine in for Souper Saturday, we were finally able to throw open the doors of Trinity United Methodist church and welcome our community back for amazing food and fellowship.

Not only was the entire dining area full of people, but we also saw a tremendous influx through the drive-thru area. I prayed daily in the days leading up to the event for plenty of soup, desserts, volunteers and perfect weather, and God’s servants came through in a huge way. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank all of the individuals, churches, clubs and businesses who came out and donated, worked and feasted on the bounty, and adding to the funds we were there to raise — for the benefit of those who are and will find themselves struggling this winter to meet the high costs of cooling and heating their homes.
